Do It Yourself Wings – Make Your Superbowl Party Rock

Make your own wings

While everyone on the staff at Currents Magazine loves chicken wings, they are expensive, often not good and never hot when you get them for takeout.   The solution is Super Simple for the Super Bowl.   Here is our NO-Fail recipe that will leave you looking like a hero on the big day.

1.  Go to the store and pick up a pack of whole wing pieces.  Cut them down yourself and leave on the skin.

2.  Pick up any large bottle of hot sauce, everything else you need will be at home already.

3.   NO measuring necessary:  In  sauce pot, add the large bottle of hot sauce, one stick of butter, garlick powder, onion powder, chili powder, a little dry mustard – and any other spices you like – to the pot and bring to a simmer.  Set it aside.

4.  Toss the chicken wings in a bowl with flour, lawrey’s salt or salt and pepper.

5.  Fry in Canola or vegetable oil of your choice for about 7 -9 minutes.  Cut one to make sure they are done.   Then drain of oil, let them sit for 3 minutes so crust stays cripsy, then toss with the hot sauce.

Dressing and celery is usually a given.
