To kick off both Hunger Action Month and their October Fundraising Gala, Lunch Break is having a party at the Downtown in Red Bank, and you’re invited.
Bring your friends and join both the celebration and the efforts to fight hunger on Thursday, September 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be drink specials and live music featuring The Haven with special guest Susan Haugenes. There is a $10 donation per person, and a 50/50 raffle to raise funds for Lunch Break. The Downtown is located at 10 West Front Street in Red Bank (732-741-2828).
Lunch Break is an organization founded nearly 30 years ago in Red Bank as a soup kitchen and pantry to provide life’s necessities to community members in need. Today, Executive Director Gwendolyn Love and her staff, plus more than 1,500 volunteers continue that commitment to provide those basic necessities and so much more. In 2011 more than 45,000 hot meals were served, more than 6,000 food pantry distributions went to families, and there were more than 3,000 distributions of clothing, including outfits for job seekers preparing for interviews. Lunch Break delivers meals to the homebound, has cooking classes for children, and a back-to-school distribution of backpacks and school supplies. There is a monthly “Dinner and a Classic Movie” night for members of the Boys and Girls Club, Thanksgiving and Christmas meals are offered, and there are special monthly dinners for the community. All this and more is free of charge thanks to the generosity of supporters of Lunch Break’s efforts.
Please come to the Pre-Gala Party at The Downtown September 13, and mark your calendar for the October 5 Gala, the theme of which is “Feeding the Hungry Starts with You: The Community Needs Us and We Need You.”
Lunch Break is located at 121 Drs. James Parker Blvd. in Red Bank and can be found at www.lunchbreak.org or reached by phone at 732-747-8577 or at info@lunchbreak.org.
